Kris Petit, Masters Degree Student
Supervised by Dr. Gregory Scott Sparrow, EdD, LPC-S

I am a counseling practicum student interested in working with individuals, couples, and families experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and life transitions. My goal is to provide a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood as they explore their experiences and move toward meaningful change.

My developing approach is informed by attachment-based therapies, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as family systems, mindfulness, and humanistic and existential perspectives. I am drawn to approaches that help clients better understand their emotional patterns, strengthen relationships, develop self-compassion, and connect with what feels meaningful in their lives.

When appropriate and aligned with a client’s interests, I am also interested in incorporating dreamwork into counseling, including the Five Star Method. I view dreams as a meaningful way to explore emotions, inner conflicts, relationships, personal symbols, and emerging possibilities for growth. Rather than treating dreams as having one fixed interpretation, I approach dreamwork collaboratively, with curiosity and respect for the client’s own associations, insights, and lived experience.

My path toward counseling has been shaped by a long-standing interest in the mind, relationships, and personal transformation. Studying psychology and counseling has also helped me navigate my own challenges, which has strengthened my appreciation for the courage it takes to begin therapy. I strive to bring warmth, humility, curiosity, and care into my work with clients.

As a practicum student, I continue to grow through supervised clinical experience, ongoing learning, and reflection. I hope to support clients in finding greater clarity, connection, resilience, and hope.
