Social Media Policy
I own or manage a number of websites, and I have posted extensive writings and blog entries online over the years. I am pretty "available" online if you search for me. I also have a personal Facebook page and a business FB page for DreamStar Institute, a dreamwork training and certification program.
While there is nothing wrong with maintaining an online presence for an LPC, the LPC Board does specifically prohibit LPCs from from becoming friends with clients in "real life," and on social media, as long as we are maintaining a therapeutic relationship. So if you send me a friend request, I will have to turn it down. It's nothing personal at all, and you have done nothing wrong in sending me a friend request. But it's my responsibility to know and to respect the state requirements. Thank you for understanding!
